'The Batman': New Trailer Drops During NBA All-Star Game
A new trailer for the highly anticipated “The Batman” was released during the NBA All-Star Game on the weekend.
The clip showed the caped crusader landing on the roof of the Rocket Mortgage Field House in Cleveland, where the NBA was holding its All-Star Game.
The one-minute trailer clip, which was dropped during the pre-game, began with a shot of the event center, following which broadcaster Brian Anderson noticed a glitch on the huge video board advertisement outside the venue.
Then, the advertisement showing the NBA logo suddenly transitioned to a green text saying “unmask the truth.”
“You guys getting this in the truck? Something’s happening outside.” Anderson says in the trailer. “Hold up, is that the Bat-Signal? I think the Batman’s on the roof. And I can’t believe what I’m seeing.”
Within seconds, Batman shows up on the roof of the arena just under the Bat signal. “The Batman” flashed on the screen followed by the WB and DC logos.
The movie, which is set for release on March 4, stars Robert Pattinson in the titular role, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton or The Riddler.
“Vengeance!,” Batman’s foes say in the trailer, before Penguin tells him, “boy, you’re everything they say.”
Later, Catwoman says, “Don’t you ever just say hello?”
In another part of the trailer, a voice-over narrator speaks, “This is your legacy, Bruce Wayne” as Pattinson holds a note in the trailer that read, “For The Batman.”
TNT Network's official Twitter page uploaded the clip and wrote, "I can't believe what I'm seeing. The Batman trailer dropping at #NBAAllStar."
Pattinson had earlier dropped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and unveiled a clip that showed a conversation between The Batman and police commissioner James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright).
“Who’s the mustache with the broken nose?” says Batman in the clip.
“That’s Kinsey, narcotics,” Gordon replies.
“He’s one of the guys I got into it with at The Iceberg Lounge,” says Batman, which prompts Gordon to ask, “Are you saying Kinsey moonlights for The Penguin?”
“No,” Batman responds, “he moonlights as a cop.”
The film is directed by Matt Reeves which features Batman in his second year of fighting crime in Gotham city. Pattinson’s superhero character will reportedly uncover corruption in the city, and face one of Batman’s most dangerous nemesis, The Riddler.
