Video game publisher Electronic Arts has revealed that a new map will be available for “Battlefield 1” Premium Pass holders this June. Called Nivelle Nights, the map is set in France during 1917.

“As darkness falls over the muddy battlefields around Malmaison and Soupir, French and German batteries prepare to yet again support their troops on the contested ground,” EA wrote in its official description. “The moon, the searchlights, and the artillery lights up the night skies, exposing the vast network of trenches. Bite and hold as your foe will fight for every inch of ground. Strategy and teamwork will overcome those who have neither.”

EA has only released one image from the new Nivelle Nights map for “Battlefield 1.” The image shows a trench bathed in the light of a full moon. The map is set in Chemin des Dames which stretches 30 kilometers long.

During the First World War, the Nivelle Offensive took place in the area where French army fought against invading German forces. The end of the operation wasn’t decisive as the French army lost a lot of lives which led to mutinies, according to PC Gamer.

Nivelle Nights will be the very first map in “Battlefield 1” that takes place during the nighttime. Unfortunately, it will only be available to Premium Pass holders for free. There’s no information on whether it will be made available to everyone else in the future.

The map is currently available for public testing. YouTuber Westie has shared a short first look at the map. Like all other maps in the game, Nivelle Nights is massive. But it sets itself apart by being set at nighttime and by being full of trenches. Overall, the new map appears to be a great place for shotguns and LMGs, but it looks like its going to be a pain for snipers.
