BBC Broadcaster Fired After 'Racist' Tweet About Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Son
A British broadcaster has been fired after posting a controversial tweet about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's newborn baby.
Danny Baker, who hosted a radio show on the BBC's 5 Live channel, shared a photo on Twitter on Wednesday of a couple holding hands with a chimpanzee wearing clothes. Baker, 61, captioned it, "Royal Baby leaves hospital," reports the BBC and the Independent.
The tweet, which was labeled by many as "racist," has since been deleted. Baker has since issued an apology.

Markle has been scrutinized ever since she began dating Prince Harry in 2016, and much of the scrutiny is due to her race. The Duchess of Sussex is biracial, with a Caucasian father and African-American mother. This makes her the first mixed-race woman to join Britain's royal family.
Prince Harry has expressed his concern for his wife's well-being in the past, and a royal statement was released in 2016, saying, “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her."
The statement continued, "It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game.’ He strongly disagrees. This is not a game — it is her life and his."
After Baker was fired, the BBC said, "This was a serious error of judgment and goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us."
