‘Beauty And The Beast’ Season 4 Premiere Date Will Be In Summer 2016
“Beauty and the Beast” fans should get ready for another long hiatus. The CW drama will likely be on break for another nine or 10 months. CW President Mark Pedowitz revealed at the Television Critics Association press tour that he wants “BatB” to continue to be a summer staple on the network.
“I truly like it as a summer series,” Pedowitz said, according to TV Line. “It gives us original programming. One of our goals for the network is to have year-round programming, and we’re doing more and more of this. I plan to keep it there.”
“Beauty and the Beast” Season 3 hasn’t been a rating juggernaut. They’ve averaged under 1 million viewers per episode, according to TV Series Finale, which is far from impressive. That would’ve warranted cancellation in the fall schedule, but the CW doesn’t have much new programming in the summer. Consistently low ratings are better than reruns.
The Beasties (as viewers like to call themselves) might not be thrilled about the long wait, but they’ve waited longer before. Between Seasons 2 and 3, they had to endure an 11-month hiatus. However, they might not have to wait so long for spoilers. The network renewed “Beauty and the Beast” for Season 4 before Season 3 even premiered, and they’ve already been filming the show in Toronto for months.
While Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan will return as Cat and Vincent, respectively, not everyone will make it to “Beauty and the Beast” Season 4. When Austin Basis spoke to International Business Times in June, he confirmed that his character JT would be in the new season, but some characters would die by the end of Season 3.
“Pretty much every season, almost every episode, someone is at risk of the main characters,” Basis teased. “We’ve had a couple deaths throughout the first couple seasons, and there will be more death unfortunately and we’ll lose characters.” Audiences will have to tune in to Season 3 to figure out who will be in Season 4.
“Beauty and the Beast” Season 3 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW. An exact premiere date for Season 4 has not been announced. Do you wish the show would return in the fall, or do you like watching it in the summer? Sound off in the comments section below!
