A beloved 15-year-old Cavoodle in Australia lost his life in a ferocious attack launched by two other dogs.

Patrick Crisostomo, 30, and his wife had been pet-sitting the dog named Kevy for two months while their relatives were abroad.

Crisostomo had taken the “beautiful” and “mild natured” furry friend for a walk on Moonee Ponds Creek Trail at Westmeadows in Melbourne on May 19. Two dogs ran behind them during their walk and unleashed a vicious attack on Kevy. When Crisostomo failed to push the pair away, he jumped on Kevy to protect him from the dogs, which he believes were Pitbulls.

“I could feel how Kevy was being pulled and ripped, as well as the bites that I incurred. I could feel the force of the dogs pulling him,” Crisostomo 7NEWS.com.au. “The hardest thing was, honestly, I noticed Kevy had bitten me a couple of times because he was so confused. Because he was an old dog, it barely hurt. It was like light scratches. It was just honestly heartbreaking.”

Crisostomo said he started yelling for help after staying on the ground for about 30 to 60 seconds.

“That’s when the owner arrived,” Crisostomo added.

The owner just said “stop” and didn’t pull the dogs away or call them by their names.

“He had this blue stick that he used to hit his dogs with to eventually get them off me,” Crisostomo went on to say. “Once he managed to get hold of his dogs, he walked away.”

Crisostomo believes the owner did not do enough to help despite the visible injuries.

“I honestly want justice, because it’s quite cowardly of this man,” Crisostomo told the outlet. “Regardless of whether there was any language barrier, he knew I was bloodied and hurt that night. And he chose to walk away.”

Two passersby stopped to help Crisostomo. One of them held Kevy in their arms while Crisostomo called the emergency number. By the time the call came to an end, the passerby said Kevy had passed away.

Kevy’s bereaved pet parents also slammed the owner’s actions and urged the public to help find him.

“We lost our beloved Cavoodle, Kevy, to a violent dog attack in Broadmeadows which has resulted in a family member suffering serious injuries,” Kevy’s owner said, according to Geraldton Guardian. “We are doing our best to identify the offending owner who did nothing and fled the scene with his two attacker dogs.”

Victoria Police confirmed that they are investigating the incident and are looking for witnesses that were in the area during the attack.

A police spokesperson said one dog is brown and white while the other is black. They were described as medium-build and stocky.

The owner, believed to be in his 30s, has dark brown hair and is of medium build, they added.
