'Below Deck Mediterranean's' Malia White On Ex Tom Checketts' Alleged Infidelity: 'He's Apologetic'

Malia White is getting candid about what went down between her and ex Tom Checketts.

The "Below Deck Mediterranean" star, 31, announced in September 2020 that she and Checketts called it quits after more than one year of dating. Months later, White has revealed in a new interview with Us Weekly that things got ugly after she found out that he was cheating on her.

"Yeah, we were, you know, working on different boats," she told the outlet. "It was in the pandemic [that] had just happened. So, it was impossible for us to see each other. It was right when the show is coming out, it’s obviously a lot going on in our lives. And, yeah, he found someone else on his boats, and I didn’t know for a couple of months."

The Bravo star added that she learned about Checketts' rumored infidelity "through a friend" before "all hell broke loose" between the two of them. Checketts has not publicly addressed the cheating allegations and has yet to respond to Us Weekly's request for comment.

"He’s very sorry," White said of her ex. "He’s apologetic. He wants to get back with me, but wow, not for me."

While the chef hopes to get back together with her, White said she is no longer interested in rekindling their romance. In fact, she hasn't spoken to him since they were filming the Bravo reality series.

"You learn; you live and you learn," White added. "I think, in hindsight, I probably would not have loved for him to come on the show. I was never really dying to work with him on the show. I kind of wished we would’ve kept those two things separate. I think that would have helped our relationship a lot."

White confirmed their split in a two-part video titled "PSA" that she uploaded on Instagram after the "Below Deck Med" Season 5 reunion was filmed.

"My personal life seems to be quite the topic at the moment," she said in September last year. "I am not on Twitter. I don’t do a lot of Instagram Lives, so I thought I would send out a message in my own words."

She continued, "Yes, Tom and I have split. The details surrounding all of it I am trying to keep a little private just out of respect to him and I. But yes, I am single."

White later explained during her Sept. 28 appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" that it became difficult to maintain a relationship while working and living apart for long periods of time.

"I'm good. I'm focused," she said at the time. "I don't want people to think this is yachting and this happens all the time. It's just distance, and it's s--t, but I'm focused on my career."

White and Checketts also had a virtual reunion on "Watch What Happens Live" one month later.

When host Andy Cohen asked them about their relationship status, she replied, "We don't know." On the other hand, Checketts sounded hopeful at the time, saying, "Like I say, we're working it out."
