Ben Schwartz has revealed that the response to his new Netflix show “Middleditch and Schwartz” has been really amazing and he is happy to know that the show has been spreading happiness amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview with Collider, the 38-year-old actor said that the lockdown has been a “surreal” experience for him and he feels really “fortunate” that he is sending happy vibes to people around the world with his show. He also noted that people have been very kind to him.
“I was really happy that the Middleditch and Schwartz stuff came out there because so many people have been so kind and being like, 'Yeah, we really needed this. It is just an outlet to laugh and an outlet of being in an audience virtually and stuff like that. So it is a very surreal time, and I feel very fortunate in just sending good vibes to everybody,” Schwartz said.
But the “Space Force” star also admitted that there have been times when he experienced “bouts of anxiety” because of the lockdown.
Later in the interview, Schwartz revealed how he managed to stay out of negativity during the lockdown. The esteemed actor explained that he has been playing a lot of games and watching movies during the global health crisis.
Schwartz also noted that he and his pals have been playing “Mario Kart 8” and watching “The Larry Sanders Show” to pass the time.
“Watching a lot of movies, watching 'The Larry Sanders Show' again, playing a lot of video games. I have been playing 'Mario Kart 8'. Every weekend, we have something called the 'Tournament of Champions'. So the same 12 people come into the room, and we keep our stats from week to week,” Schwartz said.
“Middleditch and Schwartz” currently holds a score of 100% on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
On the other hand, it was recently announced that Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy are coming together to churn out more stories from the “Sonic” world. Jeff Fowler, who directed the original movie, will be donning the director’s hat for the sequel while Josh Miller and Pat Casey will be penning the story. Schwartz voices the titular hedgehog character.
The original movie, “Sonic The Hedgehog,” created history by earning a total of $58 million during its first weekend and edged out last year’s “Pokemon Detective Pikachu” to become the biggest debut for a movie based on a video game. “Detective Pikachu” earned $54.3 million domestically during its opening weekend.
