Bernard Hopkins: Won’t Retire Until 50

Bernard Hopkins looked like he was 25 years old on Saturday. Only he wasn't. He was 46 and Hopkins beat a 28 year old in Jean Pascal.

I won't retire until I'm 50, Hopkins said after the match, I'm going to keep fighting like this until I leave this game and, trust me, I will not be punch drunk, beat up or broke.

Hopkins's unanimous decision over Pascal went 116-112, 115-113, 115-114 in front of a sellout crowd 17,560.

You don't get a chance to do this too often, Hopkins said. You're supposed to win titles when you are younger, in your 20s, not when you are 46.

The win gave Hopkins a light heavyweight champion title. He became the oldest man in boxing history to capture a world title.

It feels great. I set out to do exactly what I wanted to do, which was to break this record, Hopkins said, I knew it was going to be a tough fight, but I wasn't going to be denied.

Hopkins compared his win up there with his victory of Felix Trinidad, one decade ago.

This is in the top two moments of my career, right there alongside beating Trinidad, Hopkins said.
