Best Buy Confirms iPad 2 for March 11

Best Buy has put the Apple iPad 2 on their Web site, with a March 11 release date.

Initial leaks by Amazon’s German website showing iPad 2 would hit the streets on March 17 turned out to be wrong, as Apple announced the earlier date at an event Wednesday in San Francisco.

Best Buy is planning to sell the Smart Cover for the tablet is separately. Wal-Mart has also listed the iPad 2 and mentioned it as coming soon, though it hasn't specified when it will go on sale there.

The new iPad is thinner, lighter and faster compared to previous iPad version but has the same price tag of $499. It has a new design, new dual-core A5 chip processor which is two times faster than first generation iPad. It also comes with two cameras.

It will have 10 hours of battery life and features FaceTime, video calling software developed by Apple.The application is not enabled on devices bough in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt or Jordan, possibly due to regulations in these countries which restrict the use of IP-based communications technology.
