Beyonce Chops Off Her Long Hair, Sports Blond Pixie Crop On Instagram

Beyonce has cut short her trademark long locks for a trendy new hairstyle -- a pixie cut -- and the singer showed off her new style by posting a series of photographs on her Instagram account.

The pictures, which were posted on Wednesday, show Beyonce gazing into the mirror while feeling the back of her head, and the photographs have received scores of appreciative comments from her more than 5 million Instagram followers.

Ever since she burst onto the music scene with her band, Destiny’s Child, Beyonce has always flaunted long hair with the help of wigs and hair extensions. According to a Daily Mail report, Beyonce’s wig collection is said to be worth $1 million. Each wig is said to be made out of real human hair and is said to cost $10,000.

Beyonce’s new short hairstyle comes just days after her hair got stuck in a fan during a show in Montreal, which was part of her "Mrs. Carter Show" world tour.

The “Single Ladies” singer was performing “Halo” from an audience pit when her hair got tangled in the blades of a fan mounted on the edge of the stage. The accident was caught on camera by the audience, and it showed Beyonce singing her encore while security guards tried to untangle her hair.

Beyonce later joked about the incident on her social networking site by posting a handwritten note on Instagram with a reworked version of her “Halo” lyrics. "Gravity can't begiiiiiiin/to pull me out of the fan again/I felt my hair was yankiiiiiiiin/From the fan that's always hatiiiiiiiin," she wrote. "I got snatched… goodnight all."
