Beyoncé, Huckabee Feud: Why Former Gov. Slammed Obama’s Parenting Of Malia And Sasha

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is slamming Barack and Michelle Obama for encouraging their daughters Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, to be Beyoncé fans. Huckabee, a likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate, cited the superstar singer's sultry performance of “Drunk in Love” at the 2014 Grammys as an example in his new book “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy.”

He said Beyoncé’s dance moves were “best left for the privacy of her bedroom” and said her music was "obnoxious and toxic mental poison in the form of song lyrics.”

"I don't understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything -- how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school and making sure they're kind of sheltered and shielded from so many things -- and yet they don't see anything that might not be suitable for either a preteen or a teen in some of the lyrical content and choreography of Beyoncé, who has sort of a regular key to the door" of the White House, Huckabee told People magazine Tuesday.

Beyoncé performed the National Anthem at Obama’s 2013 inauguration. She and her husband, Jay Z, and daughter, Blue Ivy, also went to the White House for Michelle Obama's 50^th birthday and Michelle Obama has attended a Beyoncé concert with her daughters.

It’s not the first time Huckabee attacked Beyoncé and Jay Z in his book. While he said that she is “incredibly talented” and “can actually sing,” he “wondered” if her husband essentially pimped out his own wife, according to In Touch Weekly. The books asks: “Jay Z is a very shrewd businessman, but I wonder: Does it occur to him that he is arguably crossing the line from husband to pimp by exploiting his wife as a sex object?"
