Artists Beyonce, 26 and Jay-Z, 38 married Friday evening in New York, according to People magazine.

Speculation that this was finally a wedding celebration comes as reports said both acquired a marriage license valid for 60 days in Scarsdale, New York on Wednesday. The couple held a private ceremony and party in Jay-Z´s Tribeca penthouse.

Jay wanted it to be a really private affair -- close friends and family a close friend told People.

According to the report Beyonce's mother Tina KNowles, her father Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny's Child mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle, Gwyneth Paltrow and DJ Cassidy were among the guests, tells People quoting a friend.

Members of the media were on the street outside Jay-Z's apartment following rumors that the couple could marry on Friday. They- reported that several sport vehicles with tinted windows were seen entering and leaving the rapper's building garage. Deliveries of party rentals and flowers were noted as well.

A man wearing a tuxedo was also seen setting up a white tent at the top of the building, according to reports.

So far, the fact that this party was a wedding reception hasn't been officially announced. The couple had been dating since 2002.
