Bigbang Films New Music Video For Upcoming Spring Album
Bigbang is returning very soon to the music scene as the group has already completed its new music video, YG Entertainment announced.
The music label did not release details about the new music video but it said the four existing members of Bigbang -- Taeyang, T.O.P., Daesung and G-Dragon -- are appearing in the music video. This is the first musical project for the group since 2018. Their last musical offering as a boy band was “The Flower Road” in 2018.
Earlier, YG Entertainment reported T.O.P., also known as Choi-Seung-hyun, is leaving the label after 16 years as a contract artist. According to the label, the rapper has opted to take on new endeavors but will still be joining the band’s promotional activities if his time allows it.
In an interview with Hong Kong’s Prestige Online, T.O.P. said he is preparing for the release of his first solo album.
“I’ve been saying to my fans since my debut that I’ve been planning to come back with a solo album sometime in the future, whenever I feel ready. Now, I feel ready. My first album will come out soon, and it will be my very first journey of sharing who I really am,” he said.
The “Bang Bang Bang” rapper revealed he wrote 100 songs in the last five years during the band’s hiatus. A few of those are songs are included in his upcoming album. "You’ll be surprised, because I’ve been recording continuously during the hiatus, and there’ll be a lot of different genres included in the album. All the songs are from my pure heart. I spent a lot of sweat and effort to make this album possible," he said, adding that a feature film produced by a global creative team will be released along with his album.
Before the world ever knew BTS and Blackpink, Bigbang was among the biggest K-pop superstars to ride the Hallyu wave along with their contemporaries, PSY, Wonder Girls and 2NE1. Bigbang was the first K-pop boy band to ever have an official light stick – the “Bang Bong” which was designed by G-Dragon.
Previously, Domee Shi, the director of “Turning Red” revealed that she based the film’s boy band characters on members of Bigbang and fellow boy group, 2PM -- the boy bands she admired when she was a young girl.
