Singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias is set to become the first-ever recipient of the Top Latin Artist of All Time accolade at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

According to Billboard, the 45-year-old musician has been topping the Latin charts since his first entry, “Si Tú Te Vas,” and has put out numerous hit songs that went on to grab the no. 1 spot at the Hot Latin Songs chart.

The “Bailando” hitmaker holds the record for the most no. 1 tracks on the Hot Latin Songs chart. In his 25-year career, 27 of his songs have topped the chart and the singer has managed to spend a total of 189 weeks at the top.

Iglesias has spent 620 weeks in the top 10 of the Hot Latin Songs chart, the most by any act. Similarly, he has claimed the no. 1 position at the Top Latin Album on eight occasions since 1995.

Speaking about the accolade, the chairman and CEO of Sony Music Latin Iberia Afo Verde congratulated the iconic singer and applauded him for his dedication. Verde told Entertainment Tonight that the Grammy-winning artist is an “amazing human being and a high-class professional.”

He also shared that this award shows the world how his music has managed to impact the listeners.

“Enrique is an iconic artist, a global star, a high-class professional, and more importantly an amazing human being. His music has transcended generations. This much-deserved award is a testament to his continued impact and influence. It is an honor for us at Sony Music to work with him. Congratulations, Enrique!” Verde said.

The 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards will take place on Wednesday at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Known as the King of Latin Pop, the singer started his professional career in 1995 with his debut album “Enrique Iglesias.” The album became a huge hit and won him the Best Latin Album award at the Grammys. Since 1995, the hitmaker has produced nine more studio albums and won more than 200 accolades for his work.

During his illustrious career, the “Heartbeat” hitmaker has won five Latin Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, 10 Latin American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards and 43 Latin Billboard Music Awards.

Iglesias has been in a relationship with former tennis player Anna Kournikova for 18 years, and they share three children together.
