Bindi Irwin, Grandfather Bob Haven’t Seen Each Other In Years Amid Feud

Bindi Irwin’s estranged grandfather Bob has officially broken his silence amid their family’s long-running feud and after his previous interview raised some brows because he didn’t congratulate the young celebrity on her recent engagement.

The father of the late Steve Irwin recently opened up to Courier Mail and set the record straight regarding their feud. Bob admitted that he has already reached out to Bindi and fiancé Chandler Powell after his interview circulated and fueled his feud with Bindi’s family further.

According to the Australia Zoo founder, he wrote a letter to the couple extending his well-wishes to them and clarifying the innocent mistake he made when he was interviewed about Bindi and Chandler’s engagement.

“I want (Bindi and Robert, 15) to be able to do what they want from day to day, enjoy life, enjoy the animals, achieve things, without worrying about things that should never be presented to them (like that article),” Bob said in his new interview.

The conservationist then reiterated his best wishes for Bindi and Chandler since they are to embark on a new journey as husband and wife. “Much the same as any other parent or grandparent, I would wish (Bindi and Chandler) all the best — which I do — and hope things go really, really well,” he added.

Though he is happy for Bindi, he couldn’t help but express his longing for them when he admitted that he hasn’t seen Bindi and Robert for more than 10 years. It should be noted that Bob resigned and stayed away from the zoo two year’s after Steve’s death in 2008.

It wasn’t clear when the feud started, but Bob has been very vocal of his disdain for the commercialization of the zoo he founded more than 40 years ago after his son’s passing. In 2015, he confirmed that he was no longer on speaking terms with Steve’s wife Terri and the rest of the family.

Despite the feud, Bob assured that he will be a supportive grandfather to Bindi and Robert from now on. He said he’ll be there for them should they need his help. He also noted that their father would surely be proud of what they have accomplished in a short span of time.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Bindi and Chandler are rushing to start a family. Insiders claimed that the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 21 winner is so eager to get pregnant that she does not mind walking the aisle as a pregnant bride on her wedding day.
