Amid nationwide protests against racism, a video of a black trans woman, from Minnesota, being brutally beaten has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage.

Reports stated that the assault took place on June 1 following a “fender bender.” A video of the incident showed a crowd, consisting of 15 to 30 assailants, mostly men, brutally beating the victim, identified as Iyanna Dior. Another group of people can be seen witnessing the incident.

After the video went viral, Dior took to Facebook to state that she was “ok.” She, however, showed her bruises and said, "I just need some time to process everything that's going on.”

"Thanks to everyone reaching out making sure I'm ok. Imma talk real soon,” she added.

The video has been viewed close to three million times. Several people, including activists, spoke in support of the victim.

“A young Black trans woman named #IyannaDior was brutally attacked by a group of mostly Black cis men in Minneapolis last night. There’s video online that I won't share. But this is why we must always clarify that all #BlackLivesMatter every time we invoke this chant,” activist Raquel Willis tweeted.

Serena Daniari, a trans activist, too tweeted stating, “Will not share the video, but #IyannaDior deserves justice. She’s a black trans woman who was brutally beaten by a group of nearly 30 men yesterday over a fender bender. Her life matters.”

Meanwhile, in a press release, Abounding Prosperity, a Texas-based organization that seeks to "address health, social, and economic disparities among Black Americas" with a focus on the LGBTQ+ community, said, "We at Abounding Prosperity, Inc. are deeply saddened, angered and disgusted at the images in the recent video of another Black transgender woman being brutally attacked by a mob of Black men and women at a convenience store in Minneapolis, Minnesota."

“It is not acceptable for groups of people to stand by and watch and record and individual being attacked and beaten by a group of people and do nothing. If we truly want to enact change, then that change must start within our own community towards each other. If we want Black Lives to Matter, then All Black Lives Must Matter, including Black Trans Lives Matter," the statement added.

It was not known if any arrests were made in connection with the incident.
