Blackpink's Rosé Opens Up On Her Insecurity: 'I Am Just Vulnerable'
Blackpink’s Rosé is no doubt one of the biggest stars in the music industry with more than 59 million followers on Instagram. Yet, the 25-year-old New Zealand-born K-pop star admits she gets insecure sometimes, especially when she is with people who seem confident in every aspect of their lives.
"Sometimes I look at somebody who's very confident, and I admire that. I wish I was that way too. I am very insecure about it, but only because I care about it so much," Rosé told Rolling Stone.
Born Roseanne Park, the "How You Like That" singer and dancer said she wants to continuously improve as a person and that her self-confidence "is something I'm working on every single day."
Though she appears very confident in group performances, Rosé said her introverted nature makes her vulnerable although she does not look at it negatively.
"Insecurity isn't a negative thing — it's one of the most powerful drivers of good art. I think I am just vulnerable," she told the magazine. "I think a good amount of feeling comfortable and a good amount of feeling vulnerable is always good. I also really enjoy that feeling of vulnerability and really wanting or craving something — I really enjoy that feeling. So I don't want to lose that, ever."
She continued, "In the past, if I felt nervous, it'd burden me so much, because you just want to be relaxed, right? But to be nervous about something, to really care about something, is what makes life so interesting and fun."
The K-pop idol seemed to have internalized her answers too much, which led her to tear up during the interview.
"Why am I crying? Oh, my God, so weird. I'm so sorry. I hate myself for this, this is so funny," she quipped.
Blackpink will appear on the cover story of Rolling Stone this June. They will be the first Asian female musical group to make it to the cover of the magazine and the third female singing band to ever do that after Spice Girls and Destiny's Child.
