‘Blindspot’
Will Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) be able to make it out alive in “Blindspot” Season 2? NBC

“Blindspot” Season 2 is nearing its final episode, but things are still far from good for Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and his team.

In “Blindspot” Season 2, episode 21, titled “Mom,” Shepherd (Michelle Hurd) was able to successfully kidnap Weller, and she placed him in the bunker together with the other members of the Continuity Government Sub-Committee (COGS). These people are the ones being eyed to take over the government should it fail in the near future. However, Weller doesn’t have any interest in being part of this group, and some of the other members that Shepherd picked may not be on her side either.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Martin Gero said that more information about COGS will be revealed on Wednesday night’s episode. “It picks right up in the episode, so a lot of the questions that you’re asking will be answered in a week’s time, so it’ll be easier for me to talk about them. But yes, she’s smart enough to know that she can’t place all of her people on the inside, so she needs people that she believes are moral and true and incorruptible, which is what she feels like is wrong with the current government,” he said.

Gero also said that Weller is terrified of becoming part of COGS, especially since he just came to realize that all of the tattoos found on Jane’s (Jaimie Alexander) body have a purpose. Additionally, Weller understands that the risks of Phase 2 have just started, but things have already become extremely complicated. Luckily for Weller, his partner, Jane, will be very useful in dealing with Phase 2. Unfortunately, Gero said that her involvement will only be exposed in the finale episode.

Meanwhile, another shocking twist in “Blindspot” Season 2, episode 21 had to do with Roman’s (Luke Mitchell) decision to side with Shepherd instead of Jane. Just recently, Roman discovered that it was Jane who erased all of his memories, and he’s far from pleased about it. As a result, Roman wants to get back at Jane.

“He’s furious at Jane and is remembering why she erased his memory, which is even worse. I think Shepherd’s plea to him late in this episode, where she was like, ‘I would never try to control you; everything I’ve done has been because I love you,’ in a way, he believes that and he knows that to be true,” Gero explained.

Mitchell also spoke with Entertainment Weekly during a separate interview regarding the fate of his character. There were initial rumors suggesting that the character will be killed off, but this was debunked because Roman will still appear in Season 3. “I feel like that’s Roman 2.0. He’s been built up, he’s a bit dodgy, he’s getting some memories and trying to work out who he is and how he fits in, so he’s just keeping it together,” he said.

In the end, anything can happen on a show like “Blindspot.” Jane and Roman may eventually forgive each other, and Weller may escape from the bunker. These are storylines that may be part of the finale episode or the upcoming third season.

“Blindspot” Season 2 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
