Bobbi Kristina Brown Update: She Was ‘Deathly Afraid’ Of Bathtubs, Friend Says
Bobbi Kristina Brown remained unconscious Friday in a hospital after she was discovered in a bathtub three months ago -- and the circumstances around her getting there have become increasingly murky. Authorities say they consider it an accident, and while no foul play is suspected, Brown's friend Debra Reis Brooks had something shocking to add to the dialogue: Brown was “deathly afraid” of bathtubs and it was strange for her to randomly take a bath.
After Brown’s mother, pop legend Whitney Houston, accidentally drowned in a bathtub in February 2012 at the Beverly Hilton hotel, Brown was petrified of baths, Brooks told Radar Online in an exclusive interview Friday. “I didn’t think foul play, but thinking how Krissi got in that tub. It didn’t make sense,” Brooks said. “Krissi never took a bath, ever ever! She was deathly afraid of bathtubs. No way Krissi would have drawn a bath, no way.”
Before the bathtub accident on the last Saturday in January, yelling between boyfriend Nick Gordon and Brown was reportedly heard. “It haunts me,” Brooks said. “Damn it, why didn’t I knock on their door? I wanted to help her and save her.” The neighbor, who Brown lovingly called “Mama Deb,” is reportedly working with police to help piece the tragic day together. “As I’m observing things and words, I started to think, ‘Wait a minute, I still didn’t get it,'” she said.
While police do not consider Gordon a suspect, Brown’s family will not let him see her in the hospital. He’s taken to begging, but neither the Browns nor the Houstons want him in Bobbi Kristina’s presence. After three months of being in the hospital, Gordon issued a plea to the families.
Gordon “has respected to the families’ wishes” since the accident happened three months ago, but now he wants to see her, a statement released to Us Weekly by his lawyer said. “He has asked through counsel many times privately and now asks both the Browns and the Houstons, please let him see her.”
