Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Struggles Detailed In Biopic Years After Whitney Houston’s Death
Bobbi Kristina Brown’s struggles since she was a child until after her mom Whitney Houston’s death will be detailed in the film, “Bobbi Kristina.”
Screenwriter Rhonda Baraka spoke with People to explain what her goal is in writing Brown’s life story for the big screen. “Dig a little deeper and understand why this little girl’s life was the way it was,” she said. The publication noted that even as a young girl, Brown already faced the “harsh glare of Hollywood.”
Brown also grew up behind the shadows of her extremely famous parents, who eventually filed for divorce, fought through their drug addiction and financial woes. In 2012, the “I Will Always Love You” singer passed away in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Brown was just 18 at that time.
Three years later, at the age of 21, Brown was found face down and unconscious in a bathtub in her home in Georgia. Seven months later, she passed away in a hospice after suffering from irreversible brain damage caused by her drowning in freezing cold water. As of late, criminal investigations following her death remain open, but Brown’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, was accused of murdering her.
Friends close to Brown and Gordon claimed that she was “plagued by demons,” which ultimately led to her drug addiction. Brown’s housemate and good friend, Max Lomas, revealed that he and several others were already planning on staging an intervention for Brown before she passed away.
Meanwhile, Brown’s father, Bobby Brown, revealed in his 2016 memoir that his daughter grew up seeing him and Houston high on drugs. “We failed her,” he said after admitting that he and Houston would normally have “screaming matches.”
Actress Vivica A. Fox, who plays the role of Brown’s aunt, Pat Houston, said that her niece did not quite recover from her mom’s death. “I think she should have been allowed a bit more time to grieve,” she said.
“Bobbi Kristina” is set to premiere on TV One at 7 p.m. EDT despite Bobby’s attempts at blocking its release. The patriarch said that the biopic contains untrue depictions of the kind of relationship he and Brown had.
