With the numerous problems plaguing the country, a man from Lincoln, Nebraska has refused to let his city forget about a major social issue: boneless chicken wings.

On Aug. 31, Ander Christensen brought his argument to the Lincoln City Council meeting and demanded they change the name of the finger food because it was confusing.

“Lincoln has the opportunity to be a social leader in this country. We have been casually ignoring a problem that has gotten so out of control, that our children are throwing around names and words, without even understanding their true meaning. Treating things as though they’re normal,” he said.

“I go into nice family restaurants and see people throwing this name around and pretending as though everything is just fine. I’m talking about boneless chicken wings,” said Christensen.

The big reveal was followed by laughter, which prompted Christensen to hush one of the attendees so he could finish his speech.

“I propose, that we as a city remove the... Excuse me, I’m trying, excuse me, yeah come on,” Christensen says to the person individual.

“I propose that we as a city, remove the name ‘boneless wings’ from our menus and from our hearts.”

One of Christensen’s reasons for the name change was due to its inaccurate description.

He explained, “nothing about boneless chicken wings actually comes from the wing of a chicken. We would be disgusted if a butcher was mislabeling their cuts of meats, but then we go around pretending as though the breast of a chicken is its wing?”

Christensen even shared a few suggestions that the council could consider renaming the dish. “We can call them, ‘buffalo-style chicken tenders,’ we can call them ‘wet tenders,’ we can call them ‘saucy nugs’ or ‘trash,’” he said.

Christensen wrapped up his speech by challenging the community to right the boneless chicken wing wrong and be a leader for the rest of the country.

After he spoke, Lincoln City Council Member Roy Christensen noted that the anti-boneless wings speaker is his son.
