Sacha Baron Cohen shared his encounter with other protesters when he crashed a far-right rally in Washington to film the "Borat" sequel. He added that he fears for the future of democracy.

In an op-ed for Time, the English comedian, actor, writer and producer recounted his experience at a rally where he showed up as a right-wing singer to secretly film the sequel of "Borat." He was well-prepared and even wore a bulletproof vest, but he still feared for his life.

"A few times in my career, I have genuinely feared for my life,” he wrote to start his op-ed.

"While filming my latest 'Borat' film, I showed up as a right-wing singer at a gun-rights rally in Washington State. When organizers finally stormed the stage, I rushed to a nearby get-away vehicle," he wrote.

"An angry crowd blocked our way and started pounding on the vehicle with their fists. Under my overalls, I was wearing a bulletproof vest, but it felt inadequate with some people outside toting semiautomatic weapons. "

Someone had successfully opened the door and dragged him out. Cohen then used all his body weight to close the door. When his car successfully maneuvered, he left the place safely.

"I was fortunate to make it out in one piece. The next few weeks will determine whether America will be so lucky," he added.

Cohen also recalled when he posed as an ultimate fighter at a cage match in Arkansas and challenged the audience to take him on. A fake ex-boyfriend, presumably another actor, volunteered and they engaged in heavy petting that triggered a near riot among the crowd, which included some recently paroled prisoners. They erupted in homophobic slurs. "The Dictator" actor felt that they would have beaten him had he not escaped.

"Moments like that are frightening. Today, though, I’m truly terrified—for the survival of democracy itself," he added.

"The fate of U.S. democracy now rests with voters and whether they stand up in record numbers and choose truth over lies."

Meanwhile, several celebrities including Meghan Markle have been encouraging the people to vote in the upcoming election. Many also participated in the naked ballot PSA.

Mark Ruffalo, Tiffany Haddish, Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Josh Gad and more went nude to raise awareness about the "naked ballots." In some states including Pennsylvania, an extra "secrecy" envelope is included and voters need to include that envelope when they mail their ballots; otherwise, it will be called a "naked ballot" and their votes will not be counted.
