Boston School Closings, Flight Delays After Watertown Manhunt For Dzhokhar Tsarnaev And MIT Shootout

As city officials and Massachusetts law enforcement continue a massive manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the remaining suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, much of the city of Boston and outlying suburbs is on a lockdown with residents advised to remain inside their homes or “shelter in place.”

According to ABC News, all taxi service in the city is currently suspended as is vehicle traffic to and from Watertown, Mass. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced as of Friday morning that service on all modes of public transportation is currently suspended until further notice. A number of schools and businesses and other public institutions including the Boston Public Library are also closed, NECN reported.

Boston’s Logan Airport is, however, open although it’s official Twitter feed said that it is “operating under heightened security.” Logan also advised travelers to check their flight status with their respective airlines before going to the airport.
