'Bourne 5' Villain Update: Vincent Cassel To Play The Main Antagonist Opposite Matt Damon
“Bourne 5” has roped in French actor Vincent Cassel to play the role of main antagonist, Variety reported. He will reportedly go against Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne.
The character details of the actor are being kept under the wraps. The Cesar award winner actor is known for his performances in “Ocean's Eleven” and “Ocean's Twelve.” He also received much praised for his portrayal of Thomas Leroy in Academy Award nominated film “Black Swan.” The actor has received numerous accolades for playing Jacques Mesrine in the 2008 two-part French film “Mesrine: Killer Instinct” and “Mesrine: Public Enemy Number One.” He is currently filming Canadian-French drama “It’s Only The End Of The World” where he plays the character Antonine.
Cassel is yet to officially confirm his presence in “Bourne 5.” Meanwhile, other cast members of the film include Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones. Julia Stiles, who played Nicky Parsons in the in the 2007’s “The Bourne Ultimatum,” is also set to return.
The official plot details of the film are not known; however, Damon has said in his previous interview that film has been set in “post-Snowden” world.
“Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy,” Damon told BuzzFeed.
The movie will be reportedly set in Greece and the events will follow in Los Angles. Paul Greengrass will direct the film. He has also co-written the screenplay of the film with Christopher Rouse and Damon.
The characters of the film have been created by Robert Ludlum. Frank Marshall and Jeffrey Weiner are producing the film Rouse and Henry Morrison serve as executive producers. It movie will be released on July 29, 2016.
