Box Containing Ashes Of Woman Went Missing From Hotel Lobby, Found At Bust Stop A Week Later
A box containing the ashes of a woman, allegedly stolen from a hotel room in Las Vegas, Nevada, was retrieved from a bus stop in the city a week later. The box was found Tuesday by a passerby and was reported to the police.
The box belonged to Dan and Colton Dalton from Ohio who were in Las Vegas along with their grandmother. They had reportedly come to collect the ashes of their 45-year-old mother, Terra Dalton, who died while on vacation in the city.
Local reports said the family had around 10 hours before their next flight to Ohio on Jan. 28 and had decided to go for a walk, leaving the luggage at the hotel. They were provided a tag before they went for a walk outside.
The family later misplaced the luggage tag while on the walk and another person checked out their luggage after finding the tag. Security personnel told the police about a couple coming and taking the luggage along with the box.
According to the media reports, the owners of the hotel company had said, “We are aware of the guests claim with Las Vegas Metro, and we are working with them to recover the guest’s belongings.”
The ashes were found in a bus stop and immediately reported to the police by Eric Maxwell, a resident in the area, on Tuesday. The police had not released any reports about what happened to the luggage and whether the couple who stole the box did so purposefully.
Investigations in the case were underway.
