St. Louis Teen Brings Stolen Gun To School, Charged With Unlawful Use Of Weapon
A teenage boy in St. Louis, Missouri, who brought a pistol to his high school Tuesday, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon Wednesday.
According to Normandy school district spokeswoman Sharifah Sims-Williams, the teen, identified as 17-year-old Christian Fredrick, was approached by a Normandy High School's resource officer Tuesday morning after the latter noticed that the teen was not in his class. When confronted, the teen fled the scene. When Fredrick was caught, he was found in possession of a 9 mm pistol.
The school resource officer immediately alerted the police who arrived at the school and took Fredrick into custody. Following the arrest, the school was briefly locked down after police got information that another gun might be on the campus. However, no gun was found.
Investigation revealed that the pistol was stolen two months back. Police were investigating to know how the weapon was acquired and why the teen brought it to his school.
North County Police Cooperative said the teen was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest and was held on a $75,000 cash bond.
