  • Crawford not entertaining immediate fight with Spence
  • Spence aiming for Danny Garcia as next opponent
  • Crawford wants Spence to recall old for first before clashing

Terence Crawford is one of the boxers that multiple fighters want to face. And one pug is Errol Spence who will be making his comeback fight somewhere in September. But as far as the undefeated WBO welterweight champion is concerned, it is a no-win situation if he agrees to a match.

Crawford feels that it is not the right time for both him and Spence. Most know that Spence is coming off a car accident in October of last year. Though he won his last fight against Shawn Porter in September to win the WBC Welterweight title, his current level of conditioning is suspect. For Crawford, facing him in his return bout would leave both of them in a pretty ugly spot.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated via Boxingscene.com, Crawford explained how he would not even take the fight if it was offered to him. He pointed out certain scenarios, including one that would see him knocking out Spence or beating him up badly.

"I wouldn’t even take that fight if it was offered to me. I wouldn’t take it because it’s a lose-lose situation for me. You know, if something was to happen and I knocked him out, or I beat him up bad, they would say, ‘Oh, well, he’s not the same Errol Spence. He’s coming off a car accident, and this and that, that and this," Crawford said.

Crawford believes it would be best for Spence to recall his old form and then challenge him to a fight. That way, there would be less excuses and both would look better in the eyes of boxing fans. Instead, the undefeated boxer prefers to face either Kell Brook or Patrick Teixeira next.

As for Spence, it appears he is aware that a fight with Crawford is unlikely to happen. He mentioned in a previous post how he would want to face Danny Garcia next, a clash which he says would be big.

“Danny Garcia, he’s a very, you know, tough fighter. You know, he’s a guy [who has] accomplished a lot in the sport of boxing. And that’s a fight that really makes sense, so I mean, it’s a fight that can definitely happen next,” Spence said.
