Amid the series of rumors and controversies, from split with Angelina Jolie, possible rekindling of relationship with Jennifer Aniston to his involvement with Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt made quite a controversial pledge of abstinence.

Pitt, 55, pledged abstinence from —wait for it— campaigning for the movie “Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood” and his role on the said film. Jolie’s ex was reportedly asked, during his talk with Entertainment Tonight, about campaigning for his performance in the said film and he said he was going to abstain from doing so, Lainey Gossip reported.

Pitt reportedly added that the goal was to get the film’s message across to people, to the viewers whether it’s now or decades later. Chasing it, according to Jolie’s ex, was disservice to the story’s purity and a binding thing to focus on.

But fans thought it was contrary to the customary ways. Isn’t it part of the actors’, as well as producers and investors, responsibility to promote a film? A theory came up as to Pitt’s move from abstaining for the movie’s campaign. The news outlet pointed out that Frank Ocean, famous rapper, record producer and songwriter, did the same thing with Grammy’s. He reportedly didn’t want to do anything with Grammy’s so he abstained from submitting an entry for the prestigious award-giving body’s nomination.

Leonardo Di Caprio, Margot Robbie and Emile Hirsch are also part of “Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.” The plot centers in the characters of Pitt and Caprio, a faded television actor and a stunt double who struggled to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood’s Golden Age, according to the movie site IMDb.

Nevertheless, many believed that even if Pitt claimed of abstaining from campaigning for Oscars he will still get nominated. Notwithstanding, his claims are well-respected.

The latest addition to Pitt’s film collection is “Ad Astra,” which gained a positive review from Deadline, claiming it was “fascinating, gripping, jaw-dropping and ethereal.” He played the role of Roy McBride, an astronaut who was sent to the outskirts of the planet to find his father, Clifford McBride, played by Tommy Lee Jones. Jones portrayed the character of a brilliant scientist sent on a mission under Lima Project, whose objective is to discover the existence of alien life. Jones’ character was, eventually, deemed as a threat to humanity; hence, his son’s mission to find him.

Produced by Pitt, James Gray, Jeremy Kleiner, Arnon Milchan, Dede Gardner, Yariv Milchan, Anthony Katangas and Rorigo Teixiera, “Ad Astra” also stars Liv Tyler, Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland, John Ortiz and Kimberly Elise.
