Brad Pitt-Marion Cotillard Update: Guillaume Canet Slams Affair Rumors On Instagram

One of the major rumors to emerge after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce last week was that Brad Pitt had an affair with his “Allied” co-star, Marion Cotillard. Understandably, Cotillard’s partner, Guillaume Canet, did not take kindly to the gossip, especially since Cotillard is pregnant with their second child.

Canet, 42, didn’t mention Pitt, 52, or Jolie, 41 in his most recent Instagram post. Instead, he focused on Cotillard, 40. “I don't usually make it a habit to comment on rumors made about us,” he wrote in French Saturday. “I also don't usually talk about my private life until now. I have always protected it attentively ... But the fury of the tabloids, the venal stupidity of some people calling themselves journalists, the haters who feel braver behind a keyboard, drive me to speak of the pride, love, respect and admiration I have for Marion staying as strong and intelligent in the face all these stupid and unfounded accusations.”

Canet, a French director and actor, admonished readers for getting involved in his personal life. “I think we're all living with much more important things at this moment and now it's time to move on and raise the bar a bit,” Canet wrote. “Even if there's so much work for some, I want to be positive. And as Marion said so well I hope you get better and aspire to something in your life than constantly sending s---!” The post garnered 16,000 likes from his 131,000 followers.

Cotillard co-stars with Pitt in the World War II drama, “Allied.” Tabloids claimed for months that Pitt was having an affair with the French star, just like he allegedly cheated on Jennifer Aniston with Jolie when they worked on “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2003.

Cotillard slammed the affair accusation in an Instagram post of her own last week. That’s when she also confirmed her pregnancy.

“Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting,” she said about Canet and their 5-year-old son, Marcel. “He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.”
