‘Breaking Dawn’ Author Talks ‘The Host’ Movie
Breaking Dawn: Part 1 is still making waves after its weekend premiere, but the film adaptation of another Stephenie Meyer novel - The Host - is on the way.
The Host is about Melanie Stryder, a young woman whose mind becomes inhabited by a member of an alien race called Souls. Meyer told the Hachette Book Group in an interview that The Host was just meant to be a distraction while she edited Eclipse, the third novel in the Twilight series. It eventually became a novel.
Meyer spoke with MTV about the upcoming film adaptation for The Host at the Breaking Dawn premiere.
We just cast the boys and I'm so excited, she told MTV, referring to actors Jake Abel and Max Irons.
Abel, who recently appeared in the movie I Am Number Four, will play the character of Ian O'Shea.
Irons, who played a love interest to Amanda Seyfried's character in Red Riding Hood, will play Jared Howe, Melanie Stryder's love interest before she is taken over.
Meyer gushed about actress Saoirse Ronan, who will portray Stryder. Ronan's resume includes the movies Atonement and The Lovely Bones.
So amazing, Meyer said of Ronan. You just can't take your eyes off her. She's unbelievable. I'm so excited to see her career from here on out.
Meyer, who was involved in the casting process for The Host and is one of the film's producers, said that Ronan had great chemistry with Abel and Irons.
Cut it with a knife, she told MTV. It was just great.
