KEY POINTS
- The customization and personalization that "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" offers allowed one Reddit user to recreate and pay tribute to a locale in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"
- Kakariko Village is very detailed and comes complete with mini-waterfalls, stone lanterns, wood fences, stone tablets, and more
- The user shares that plans are underway to create even more areas inspired by "Breath of the Wild"
The ability of “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” players to customize their islands, houses, and characters has allowed one player to bring a beloved locale in another game to the Nintendo Switch title.
Kakariko Village from “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” was created by Reddit user u/theskullcandiii, who posted their work on the “Animal Crossing” subreddit. “Breath of the Wild” was released in 2017 to coincide with the launch of the Nintendo Switch and isn’t just considered as one of the best games in the series but also acknowledged as one of the best-selling on the platform.
The location featured in the work is very detailed and comes complete with mini-waterfalls, stone lanterns, wood fences, stone tablets, and more, reports Screen Rant. Unlike some other incarnations of Kakariko Village, the one in “Breath of the Wild” is inspired by ancient Japanese architecture and culture.
Because of the personalization and customization that “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” allows, many players have done their own video game crossovers that double as tributes. One user created character outfits for every character in the “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” roster. Another designed their room to resemble something that came right out of “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
Recently, actor Danny Trejo revealed that even he has customized his “Animal Crossing” home to have elements of Muscle Beach and the area near his California home.
This isn’t the only tribute piece by u/theskullcandiii though. That same user has also made a location inspired by the Fairy Fountain from “ The Legend of Zelda .” It isn’t specified if this Fairy Fountain is also from “Breath of the Wild” or another “Legend of Zelda” game, the amount of detail put into it is still amazing.
According to the creator, there are plans to create even more areas inspired by “The Legend of Zelda” series locations, says Screen Rant.
Aside from the game of choice of many while the pandemic forced many indoors, the amount of options “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” offers gives fans a lot of creative freedom to really play around to their heart’s content.
The lighthearted and casual nature of the game also makes it incredibly accessible to a lot of people. No wonder that it has become the single most successful game on the Switch with 13 million copies sold to date.
