'The Brittany Murphy Story': Lifetime Investigates Mysterious Death In Biopic; Watch The Trailer [VIDEO & PHOTOS]
Lifetime is investigating Brittany Murphy’s mysterious death in the movie, “The Brittany Murphy Story.” Officially, the actress' 2009 death was caused by "community acquired pneumonia" and various other health issues. However, in 2013 her father wanted her case reopened because he believed his 32-year-old estranged daughter was poisoned.
The trailer features Amanda Fuller as the actress and will follow Murphy’s career from her early beginnings with "Clueless" to her death. The trailer features phrases like “paranoid,” “targeted” and “afraid for her life.” The movie will focus on how Murphy handled media attention and her insecurities about her appearance.
The trailer shows flashes of moments such as a recreation of the “Clueless” makeover scene, Murphy in the hospital, and reporters and paparazzi surrounding the actress. A slowed-down cover of Haddaway’s “What Is Love?” plays until the only two lines of dialogue in the trailer are spoken. A reporter asks, “What killed Brittany?”
Her husband, Simon Monjack (Eric Petersen), says, “You did. You all killed her.”
Audiences don’t know if the film will discuss his death from pneumonia and anemia, which took place just five months after Murphy’s passing. The film will focus on Murphy’s relationship with her husband as well as her close relationship with her mother, Sharon (Sherilynn Fenn).
