Brooke Shields Recounts 'Saddest Day' After Dropping Eldest Daughter Rowan At College
Brooke Shields could not help but bid a tearful goodbye to her eldest daughter, Rowan, as she dropped off her at the dormitory in Wake Forest University in North Carolina on Saturday.
Like other parents who took their kids to college over the weekend, the "Jane the Virgin" actress also became emotional as she drove away from the University.
"My unique and extraordinary baby girl spreading her wings. I love you so. We are so proud of you. This was the saddest drive away from anywhere I’ve ever had to make. But my baby is BEGINNING one of the most important adventures of her life to date…NOW!" the 56-year-old actress wrote on Instagram.
Shields on Sunday shared a sweet mother and daughter photo with Rowan inside the dorm room. She also shared a family snap with husband Chris Henchy and 15-year-old daughter, Grier. In a short clip, a teary-eyed Shields can be seen as she looks at the camera.
In June, the proud mama and author of "There was a Little Girl" took to Instagram to share some moments from Rowan's graduation day.
"My baby girl's graduation and she performed at the celebration," she captioned the post, which included a short clip of Rowan playing the guitar and singing at her graduation ceremony.
In May, Shields also posted a throwback photo of her and her daughters and wrote, "There's nothing I love more than being your mom."
She previously opened up to Us Weekly about teaching her kids the value of money after her daughters got their first paychecks from their summer jobs.
"They got a paycheck every week," she told Us Weekly. "This was their hard-earned money. And they realized how hard it was to get that check, that piece of paper. … At first, they just handed [the checks] to me and said, 'Well, can you put this somewhere?' And then it became, 'OK, let’s show you how this works.' There are baby steps."
She said that during the quarantine, her children taught her how to use TikTok for the first time.
"There are ways that you can actually engage and spend time with your parents and it’s not torture," Shields said.
