The Texarkana, Texas Police department made two arrests in connection with the killing of 16-year-old Nytorius Crabtree on Tuesday evening.
Demarious Taylor and Bosnia Taylor, his sister, have both been charged with murder.
It appears what may have started as an argument on social media turned into a deadly shooting on Tuesday night at the intersection of Meadowbrook and Westlawn in Texarkana.
Taylor and another woman in Texarkana got into an argument earlier that Tuesday. It is not clear the relationship between Crabtree and the woman.
Taylor sent messages saying she wanted to fight. According to witness reports, Bosnia then told her brother Demarious to shoot Crabtree, and he did.
It took a relatively short time for investigators to sift through the witness reports and the evidence to find the two perpetrators.
Crabtree was pronounced dead at the scene after one gunshot to the chest.
A spokesperson for the Texarkana, Texas Police department, Shawn Vaughn, stated they found a 16-year-old male in the street and immediately began life-saving measures, but it was too late.
He also claimed the fight was a continuation of an altercation on social media and was arranged to happen later.
There were two carloads of people that pulled up at the Texas side intersection where Crabtree’s home is located. Vaughn stated Crabtree and the cars’ occupants got into an argument. One of them pulled a gun and shot him in the chest once. After the shooting, the occupants of the vehicles left the scene.
A press release mentioned that investigators learned that an altercation occurred between two females earlier during the day, and the shooting may have been the continuation of the incident.
Other witness statements claimed there was a physical altercation at the scene of the murder before the shooting took place.
At some point, one of the combatants, Demarious, was incited to get a weapon from their car and then fired at Crabtree. He then fled the scene in a light-colored SUV along with other people who came with him.
The body of the young male was transported to Dallas for an autopsy, and the shooting is still under investigation.
The two were booked into the Bi-state Jail. A judge set the bond at one million dollars for the two of them.
The investigation is ongoing in that there may be more arrests that are done.
Anyone that has information concerning the shooting who has not been interviewed by the authorities already is being asked to contact the Texarkana, Texas Police department.
