BTS Jungkook's Old Mercedes-Benz Is Being Sold For Nearly $240,000

BTS member Jungkook's former "favorite" car is now up for grabs at a collector's auction site.

A Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Edition known to have been owned and driven by the 25-year-old singer appeared on an auction website specializing in rare items called Blacklot, South Korean news outlet Newsen reported Wednesday.

According to reports, the luxury SUV was purchased by Jungkook under his own name back in 2019. The pop star kept the car for two years before it was sold to an unidentified collector in March, AllKpop reported. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

When the car was put up for auction earlier this month, the bidding reportedly started at 150 million South Korean won ($112,197), which was at least 60 million KRW ($44,000) cheaper than the market price of 209 million KRW ($156,450) of the same model released in the same year of purchase.

The highest bid was 320 million KRW ($239,000) as of Wednesday. The auction will end at 4 p.m. KST Monday (2 a.m. EST Tuesday).

Aside from being owned by a famous name, the Mercedes was said to be a rare item because it is an AMG edition, which belongs to the limited edition axis, an unnamed industry official told Newsen.

"This was Jungkook's favorite car. The fact that the owner wants to find a new owner who is a collector and can value the car also played a factor in putting it in the auction," the official said, according to AllKpop.

The car's current owner, who put the vehicle up for auction, plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, an unnamed entertainment industry official told Newsen.

Blacklot first posted the auction notice of the Mercedes-Benz on its website on Nov. 9. It included detailed photos of the car from different angles, vehicle specifications and the car's latest quality evaluation of its performance condition.

However, the auction site did not state that the car was previously owned by Jungkook. It only mentioned that it was a "vehicle driven by a global celebrity."
