Caitlyn Jenner has finally opened up about her separation from ex-wife and entrepreneur Kris Jenner. The reality TV star also revealed that her gender transition had nothing to do with their divorce.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Mail, the 70-year-old star noted that the famous couple decided to part their ways because of various other reasons and the issue of “transition” never came up during their divorce.
Caitlyn, previously known as Bruce Jenner, also explained how the circumstances changed and led to their separation. However, the former Olympic gold medalist admitted that the time she spent with Kris was indeed magical.
“Kris and I had a great relationship for a long time. We built an amazing family. But circumstances and people change. And I think the hardest thing is to be able to make those changes together and still be as strong,” Jenner said.
She also noticed that by the time they got to know that their relationship was not working anymore, it was time to “split up.”
The former couple got married in 1991, five years after Caitlyn divorced her second wife Linda Thompson. On the other hand, Kris was married to Robert Kardashian and announced her separation from the American attorney in the same year.
Caitlyn and Kris have two daughters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Meanwhile, the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star had four kids with Robert – Kim Kardashian, Khloe, Kourtney and Rob.
Later in the interview, the renowned TV personality also discussed her transition and how at the age of 65 she thought of taking such a drastic step. Caitlyn stated that she has no regrets about taking this extreme decision in her mid-60s because she is really proud of everything that she achieved while being Bruce.
“I have no regrets about playing Bruce for 65 years. He was a good guy – he did a lot of amazing things and raised a wonderful family,” Jenner said.
The “I Am Cait” star publicly came out as transgender in 2015 and was awared with the Woman of the Year trophy by Glamour.
She concluded by saying that her relationship with all her daughters has been really good and insisted that they have graciously accepted her transition.
Her comments come after Jenner revealed last month that her decision to come out as transgender deeply affected her relationship with Khloe despite being “really close” with the 35-year-old star while the latter was growing up.
“I went through every kid and Khloe for some reason was p---ed off about something through this whole process, it has been five or six years and I’ve really haven’t talked to her since,” Jenner said.
