'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II' Leaks Reveal Beta Release Schedule, Ranked Play Details

Fans who have been waiting for the official release of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" can get their hands on the game, ahead of its official release in September through Beta tests, said an industry insider who offered the game's Beta release schedule.

Last month, gamers noticed that when they pre-order "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" on Amazon, it comes with the Applicable Promotions note giving away the game's Open Beta date, Aug. 15, provided that the game is shipped and sold by the e-commerce company. However, an industry insider with a history of accurate leaks and goes by the name Ralph Valve claimed a different Beta schedule.

They noted that the schedule from Amazon is reserved for the game's promotions, saying, "August serves for Multiplayer reveals, events, and information. Offering an exclusive look at gameplay from Modern Warfare II’s more traditional game modes, new systems of play, and a few surprises." Ralph Valve clarified that "Activision has instead apportioned the two-week Beta for mid-to-late September, debuting first on PS4 and PS5, then to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Battle.net PC and Steam PC the following week."

The insider shared that "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" is scheduled to hold an early access beta test from Sept. 15 to 16, with the Open beta set to start from Sept. 17 until Sept. 19, adding that the first-weekend schedule is exclusive for PlayStation users. The following weekend is "cross-play beta," with the early access scheduled on Sept. 22 and 23 and open-access set on Sept. 24 to 26.

Players who can enjoy the Beta test's early access are those who have pre-ordered "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II." Aside from the Beta schedule, another leak claimed that the Ranked Play feature would be released "shortly after" the game's official launch, which was earlier announced as Oct. 28.

The information came from an insider who goes by the name GhostOfHope who tweeted, "Ranked Play will be coming to Modern Warfare II shortly after launch with Treyarch leading development on the mode."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" is set to launch on various gaming platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
