'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Leak Suggests Next-Gen Ports Will Arrive In Season 5
KEY POINTS
- "Call of Duty: Warzone" is set to receive its Season 5 content on Aug. 12
- Activision could be preparing more surprises in the upcoming patch
- "Call of Duty: Warzone" is available on various gaming platforms
"Call of Duty: Warzone" players on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5 who are hoping for the game's proper next-generation port might not have to wait much longer as the ports are seemingly arriving as early as next week.
A data miner who goes by the name BreadisModding tweeted about their discovery of the next-gen ports of "Call of Duty: Warzone." The data miner reportedly uncovered the web address of the game's Season 5 patch notes ahead of its Aug. 12 release.
The said address, which is linked to game developer Raven Software, mentions "Warzone" Season 5 and next-gen launch in the same URL. This seemingly suggests the next patch coming to "Call of Duty: Warzone" could be more than what fans are anticipating.
Currently, the address shared by the data miner leads to an error page on the official website of Raven Software. In the absence of an official confirmation from the developer or Activision, it is hard to prove the next-gen ports' existence.
Interestingly, the latest leak aligns with the information shared by an industry insider who goes by the name TheGhostofHope.
"The only reason we found out about the whole next-gen launch update thing with Season 5 of Warzone was that they put it in the patch notes link itself," the tipster said in a tweet.
If the leak is accurate, the game's next-gen version could offer various improvements that would impact the overall gaming experience. This could include a bump in frame rate, as well as much faster loading times. Unfortunately, this is not yet official, so fans should temper their expectations about the game's next-gen versions.
At the moment, "Call of Duty: Warzone" does not have a next-generation update for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5. Essentially, next-gen console owners still run the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the free-to-play battle royale title from Activision.
Basically, gamers playing on newer consoles do not have access to customizable options such as SSD, FOV slider, FPS or higher HZ support. In other words, the lack of the proper port could put players at a disadvantage when playing crossplay against PC gamers.
"Call of Duty: Warzone" is playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows and PS5.
