Cameron Diaz Opens Up About Parenting Daughter Raddix With Husband Benji Madden

Cameron Diaz shared her and husband Benji Madden's secret in making parenthood transition easier for them.

The “Charlie’s Angels” alum and the Good Charlotte rocker welcomed their daughter Raddix in January. On Wednesday, Diaz shared with makeup artist Gucci Westman how she and Madden work together to make parenting easier for both of them.

Most parents complain about lack of sleep after welcoming their bundle of joy. Diaz and Madden solve this by sleeping at different times.

“Benji wants to go to bed late, and I like to go to bed early,” Diaz said. “That works so well for us as parents. I can go to bed a few hours early and he does those later feeds with her.”

She added that she can wake up early to be with Raddix in the morning and take over while Madden enjoys his sleep. When she’s up she still keeps herself busy and doesn't idle herself through the day.

Diaz also praised her husband for being a good dad to their child. She couldn’t help but gush at how Madden looks after their baby.

“After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed, he’s so good. He’s such an amazing father. I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s father,” she continued. “He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.”

Diaz said that being a mom is the “best part of my life.” She added that she’s so happy with her new role.

“I’m so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to do it with Benj and we’re having the best time. I’m thrilled. I can’t believe it,” she added.

Diaz once said she was never drawn to being a mother. At that time, the “Bad Teacher” star said that having children means more work.

“I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother. I have it much easier than any of them. That’s just what it is,” Diaz said.
