Camila Cabello Teases Album Release Date After Completing EP Without Fifth Harmony
Since leaving Fifth Harmony almost a year ago, Camila Cabello has been focused on creating the ultimate debut solo album. After months of spending time in the studio, the singer is finally done and ready to release her hard work.
While attending Billboard’s Women in Music event, where she was being honored as this year’s breakthrough artist, Cabello revealed that her album will be out “super soon.”
“The pre-order is gonna be super soon,” she said Thursday.
During her chat, Cabello confirmed that her album is complete and in the process of being packaged. “It’s actually done. Literally, I’ve never said that before,” she gushed.
Cabello revealed that she felt like her breakthrough moment came when people began to connect with her hit song “Havana.”
“The amount of people that have connected with “Havana’ was super unprecedented to me. It’s a song that’s so personal to me, to my family, my background and where I come from. I just think nobody ever saw that coming,” she said.
On Sunday, Cabello tweeted that many people didn’t have faith that “Havana” would become a successful song but she chose to stand by her gut feeling.
“People kept saying to us that this song was never gonna work at radio because they didn’t think people would ‘get it’ and today ‘Havana’ is 1 at pop radio, thanks to my amazing fan army and my lovely friends at radio for believing and supporting,” Cabello tweeted.
“Accomplishments are never the important part, getting to make music and do what I love every day is really the reward, but I know how hard u guys go for me and I really appreciate anybody who’s ever believed and supported me on this journey so far,” she continued.
The “OMG” singer told Billboard that she was proud the song, which she was passionate about, was able to prove others wrong. “The fact that a song that represents me so much cut through, it’s amazing,” she said.
The “Crying in the Club” singer revealed that finishing an album by herself was a really emotional experience. Cabello explained that while writing thank you notes to everyone involved in the process, she realized her work would soon be available to the world and compared the feeling to giving birth to a child.
“It feels like that because it’s kind of the end of an era, the end of a chapter in my life and it feels like the songs don’t belong to me anymore, they’re about to belong to everybody else.”
Cabello’s first solo album is expected to be released early next year.
