Camilla Parker Bowles Will Have This Role In Royal Baby's Life

Her entrance into the royal family was met with some controversy because of her affair with Prince Charles when he was still married to Princess Diana, but Camilla Parker Bowles will likely be given a very special role in the life of Prince Charles’ newest grandchild.

In an interview with Express UK, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams revealed that there is a special bond between Prince Charles and Meghan Markle, especially after he filled in for her father on her wedding day and walked her down the aisle. As a result, she and Prince Harry, who are expecting their first child together soon, will likely allow him to include Camilla when it comes to the relationship they share with the newest royal baby.

“William and Harry know how happy Camilla has made Charles,” Fitzwilliams said of the Duchess of Cornwall. “Charles, who so touchingly took Meghan Markle on the last part of her journey up the aisle at her wedding in place of her father, has formed a firm friendship with Meghan.”

“It follows that he will take great delight in his new grandchild and this may well involve Camilla who will undoubtedly be delighted when she sees the joy Charles will find when his immediate family is enlarged by the new arrival,” he added.

It’s unclear how much of a role Camilla will get to have in the newest royal baby’s life, though she does seem to have a good relationship with Prince Charles’ other three grandchildren—Prince George,5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 11 months.

That relationship was shown in royal portraits that were unveiled in honor of Prince Charles’ 70th birthday in 2018. In one of the portraits, the royal family all appears relaxed and as though they’re having fun together, and body language expert Judi James told Cosmopolitan magazine that it was clear Camilla has embraced a role as a grandmother with the royal children because of how she interacts with Princess Charlotte in the photo.

“She is clearly a much more relaxed granny, chatting to little Charlotte who in turn nestles happily up beside her,” she said at the time.
