Can You Bleed To Death From Pregnancy? Kim Kardashian Considers Surrogacy For Baby No. 3
“Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Kim Kardashian is considering surrogacy for her third child. Even though the raven-haired beauty became reclusive after she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris last month, Sunday’s episode of “KUWTK” updated fans on Kardashian’s latest dilemma.
She wants to carry a third child, but might not be able to after two high-risk pregnancies. Kardashian sought the advice of two doctors.
“You never know if you might have the same type of problem that could be more serious this time,” the first doctor warned her in the episode. “You’re always taking a little bit of a chance. There are situations where retained placenta could be life or death.”
Kardashian, 36, suffered from placenta accrete when she was pregnant with North, 3, and Saint, 11 months. The condition occurs when blood vessels and other parts of the placenta grow too deeply into the uterine wall. The placenta remains attached after the baby is born, even though it’s supposed to dislodge. In Kardashian’s case, a doctor had to scrape it out.
When talking about getting pregnant again, her mother, Kris Jenner, added Sunday: “You could bleed to death.”
Unwilling to give up on a third pregnancy, Kardashian talked to fertility specialist. “Using a surrogate is not an unreasonable option,” he told her during the episode. “If our goal is to grow your family like you want to, then a surrogate makes sense.”
While surrogacy a reasonable option, Kardashian didn’t know it is right for her. “If the two doctors, that I trust, have told me it wouldn’t be safe for me to get pregnant again, I have to listen to that,” she told the cameras. “But because I don’t know anyone that has been a surrogate or used one, I didn’t really think about that as an option for me.”
The reality TV star fretted over whether she would have the same relationship with the baby if she didn’t carry him or her. “My bond with my kids is so strong,” Kardashian said. “I think my biggest fear is that if I had a surrogate is, would I love them the same? That’s the main thing I keep thinking about.”
