Candice Swanepoel Wishes Victoria’s Secret Angels ‘Good Luck’ As She Skips 2016 Fashion Show
Though Candice Swanepoel did not attend the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, she assured her fellow angels that she’s with them in spirit. The South African beauty also cheered for the supermodels who hit the runway via social media.
On Wednesday, Swanepoel took to Instagram to post a snap of herself when she first hit the runway as an Angel, wearing her own pair of wings. The 28-year-old supermodel extended a “good luck” to her fellow angels who modeled for the crowd in Paris.
Swanepoel also used Instagram to announce to her fans days prior the show that she won’t be attending the annual event. Posting a photo of her appearance in last year’s fashion show, Swanepoel stated in the caption that she’s “sad to be missing this show,” but she’s sure that it would still be magical without her.
The new mom, who welcomed baby boy Anacã with partner Hermann Nicoli in October, also expressed that it was a difficult decision not to show up because she knows that she would be disappointing her fans. However, she did assure everyone that she’ll be sporting her wings again come 2017.
Aside from Swanepoel, Adam Levine’s wife, Behati Prinsloo, also failed to join this year’s lineup of Angels. However, this is understandable because the African beauties just became mothers recently, as per Vogue. Prinsloo and her “The Voice” coach husband welcomed their first daughter, Dusty Rose, in September.
If both Swanepoel and Prinsloo made it to this year’s show, it would have been their tenth time to hit the Victoria’s Secret runway. The supermodel moms debuted together in 2007. Prinsloo got her Angel status in 2009, while Swanepoel received her first set of wings in 2010, alongside Erin Heatheron and Lily Aldridge, according to CBS News.
The 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show wrapped up on Wednesday, but the event won’t be aired on national television until Monday, Dec. 5 on CBS. This year’s lineup included Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, among many others.
Karlie Kloss was supposed to walk during this year’s show, but she backed out due to a different work engagement. “Unfortunately this year I have a work obligation that is keeping me from Paris," Kloss said, as quoted by Yahoo! Style.
