Saul Canelo Alvarez remains clueless on what lies ahead and it appears his next fight may need to go beyond just looking for his next opponent. Reports have it that there seems to be internal issues hounding the Mexican Brawler's camp, something that may take a lot to remedy.

Alvarez was recently stripped of his IBF middleweight belt after failing to agree, in a timely fashion, to a title defense against Sergey Derevyanchenko. And if his recent social media post is any indication, it looks like there was miscommunication somewhere. Apparently, he had no idea of that agreement Golden Boy Promotions had signed.

From that, it seems that trouble is indeed brewing between Alvarez and Golden Boy Promotions. And before things get out of hand, company president Eric Gomez denied in a telephone interview to Yahoo Sports that Alvarez was unhappy at the way things are going on over at Golden Boy.

“Oscar and I spoke to him on the phone [Monday],” Gomez said. “We are fine. There is a lot of lies and misinformation out there. But we are working with Canelo, his team and the team at DAZN to make his next fight.”

There are a lot of things to consider in the Canelo Alvarez case. The most important one is who he will fight next. According to Chris Mannix, there is radio silence and a potential Canelo Alvarez vs. Demetrius Andrade unification clash despite Golden Boy's alleged interest in making that fight happen. Andrade believes he deserves to be Alvarez' next opponent and that it would be a significant unification bout.

Again, GBP is placed in the hot seat and this may very well add fuel to the fire. Aside from the two fighters mentioned, there is the case of Gennady Golovkin. A third clash between Alvarez and GGG has been teased although nothing has progressed. The Kazakh destroyer signed with DAZN back in April, believing it was the only way he could face Alvarez for a third time. That is if the Mexican is willing to face his rival despite some falling out tied up to two failed drug tests.

Gomez added that Alvarez did not totally close the door on a possible rematch with Golovkin. He believes that it will all be a matter of timing and was adamant that Canelo will eventually agree to face GGG at some point.

“He’s told us, and he has said many times, if that is the fight the fans and the media want, he’ll do it,” said Gomez.
