Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Caleb Plant have agreed to face each other on November 6 to determine boxing's first world super middleweight world champion in history.

The camps of Alvarez and Plant have agreed to terms and signed contracts, according to Mike Coppinger of ESPN.

The report added that it will be a one-off fight for Alvarez under the PBC umbrella. However, there is a possibility that future businesses may happen considering the organization’s roster of super middleweight talent.

The location of the Alvarez vs. Plant fight was revealed no less by the Mexican. According to Alvarez, the clash will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The venue was not mentioned although the MGM Grand Arena appears to be the one available with other sites booked for that said date.

“This November 6, we will put Mexican boxing on top,” Alvarez announced via his official Instagram page on Thursday, Aug 20. “Let’s go for the belt that we are missing.”

Regardless of the venue, Alvarez will be making his first fight in Las Vegas since 2019. At that time, the Mexican boxer faced Sergey Kovalev. The 31-year-old won via knockout in the 11th round to win the WBO light heavyweight title.

Alvarez fought in May against Billy Joe Saunders. Already having the WBA, WBC and The Ring super middleweight titles in his possession, “Cinammon” added the WBO belt to his collection following an eighth-round corner retirement.

The camp of Saunders threw in the towel after the English fighter suffered a fractured orbital bone resulting from an Alvarez uppercut.

As for Plant, his last fight was in January against Caleb Truax. “Sweethands” won via unanimous decision to retain the IBF super middleweight title. The American boxer has yet to taste defeat in 21 fights.

In May, Alvarez was tipped as the odds-on-favorite to prevail over Plant. The Mexican was a -600 favorite, compared to Plant who was at +400.

It will be interesting if the odds will change in the coming months leading to the November clash.
