Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson could be hinting at the possibility of the blockchain expanding to Papua New Guinea as he teases about working on "something really cool" in the island country.
The executive, in a tweet over the weekend, asked Twitter users if they are in Papua New Guinea and mentioned that he is working on something really cool there. Hoskinson, however, did not give more details about this ongoing initiative in the island country, but it was enough to give Crypto Twitter something to speculate about.
"Who's in Papua New Guinea? Working on something really cool there," the tweet read.
Some people think Hoskinson plans to make Papua New Guinea the next Africa of Cardano. In October 2021, the executive had a tour around Africa and visited several countries, making public speeches and promoting Cardano-based initiatives in the continent.
In his "pan-African tour," Hoskinson met with African leaders, politicians, high-ranking officials, and businessmen in the continent and eventually participated in various investments in multiple African blockchains and financial technology startups through Adaverse -- the ecosystem accelerator built by Cardano to help startups in Africa.
Adaverse also launched the Blockchain Founders Hangout 2.0 event to talk about Web3 funding in the continent. On Sept. 5, DappRadar, a Lithuania-based decentralized app store announced Cardano blockchain's support. DaapRadar monitors more than 10,000 dapps across over 45,000 protocols.
Moreover, Aada Finance, Cardano's first NFT lending protocol, announced a bug bounty program ahead of its mainnet launch on Tuesday. The team is giving away $25,000 to those who could find a crucial smart contract vulnerability.
If Cardano expands in the island country of Papua New Guinea, Hoskinson will definitely make the announcement. So far, his team is preparing for the Vasil hard fork upgrade, which is set to take place on Sept. 22. The executive recently commented about Cardano and noted that it has never been stronger.
"A universal truth about crypto is that the markets are disconnected from reality. Cardano has never been stronger and frankly many other projects are also solid across the industry, yet you don't see that reflected- just a sea of red. Macro factors always win out," he said in a tweet earlier this month.
"The focus needs to always be the true purpose of the technology. The problems it solves. The people it helps. The previously impossible new experiences that are enabled. Cardano is changing the world thanks to all of you and our best days are ahead of us," the executive added in a follow-up tweet.
ADA, the native token of the Cardano blockchain, was trading down 1.39% at $0.5064 with a 24-hour volume of $792,278,311, based on the latest data from CoinMarketCap.
