Carly Rae Jepsen ‘Excited’ To Join Katy Perry’s ‘Witness’ Tour, Shares Details
Carly Rae Jepsen recently expressed her excitement over joining Katy Perry’s upcoming “Witness” tour.
The 31-year-old singer spoke with Entertainment Tonight to share how she got invited to join the “Roar” singer’s upcoming concerts. “Her people called my people. It was nice and I’ve obviously known her throughout the years and we get along great. So it’ll be a lot of fun I’m sure,” she said.
Last week, Perry announced that her concert dates will be pushed back a little bit due to production delays. Originally, “Witness” was supposed to kick off in Ohio on Sept. 7, but it will now begin on Sept. 19 in Montreal. The singer also confirmed that her new tour schedule may be viewed on her official website.
Additionally, the “Dark Horse” singer confirmed that Jepsen will be performing with her from Jan. 5 to Feb. 5, 2018. From Sept. 19 to Nov. 1, Miley Cyrus’ younger sister, Noah Cyrus, will be teaming up with Perry for a series of performances. Purity Ring will serve as a front act for Perry’s shows from Nov. 7 to Dec. 20.
Jepsen admitted that she was unaware that there will be some changes in the schedule of Perry’s concert. But the 31-year-old “Call Me Maybe” singer said, “I’m sure the wait will be well worth it.”
Meanwhile, Jepsen went on a long break from the music industry after the successful release of the 2012 song, “Call Me Maybe.” She also collaborated with Owl City’s Adam Young for “Good Time.” But after her “Kiss” album failed to make headlines, the singer went on a hiatus and returned with “I Really Like You” in 2015.
Prior to the release of “I Really Like You,” Jepsen was already being dubbed as a one-hit wonder. In an interview with the Huffington Post, she admitted that she felt worried of being called as such. “There was a moment or two – a few months, I think – where I was sort of like, ‘I don’t know, I have a desire to rebel this in a big way. I have a desire to kind of stay paralyzed,” she said.
