Carmelo Anthony recently revealed his true feelings about Chauncey Billups’ comments and why he didn’t choose to play with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Anthony’s NBA career has gone downhill after only playing 10 games with the Houston Rockets. Despite not receiving any offers from NBA teams, many believe that the 10-time All Star is still capable of playing in the NBA. This inlcudes Anthony’s former teammate Chauncey Billups, who recently gave a heavy statement about Anthony’s basketball mentality.

According to Billups, scoring “30” a game meant “too much” for Anthony regardless pf the result of the game.

“He could have games where he had 20 or 22, and he’s mad. He might have 36, and we lose the game, and he’s in there picking everybody up,” Billups said.

Billups’ statement came out during the heat of Anthony’s free agency issues. A fact which the former New York Knicks superstar is not so happy about.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Anthony finally divulged his true feelings about the former teammate’s “untimely” thoughts about him.

“I had a different mentality. Whatever I had to do for us to be able to win, or put ourself in a situation to win, I was willing to do that, I was doin’ that, so to his comments, it wasn’t 30, it was 40, it was 50, if I didn’t core those points, I feel like I didn’t do my job. Because that was my mentality, it was to go all out, “ Anthony said.

Despite not appreciating much what Billups said, Anthony said that he did take it as a “learning tool” and that the only issue for him about it was the timing.

“I don’t take his comments any type of way. I take it as a learning tool,” Anthony said.

“My only Issue was the timing of his comments. I don’t think that was the right time for him to say oh, he likes scoring 30 in a loss, but he don’t like scoring 20 in a win. That conversation was a bad timing,” Anthony added.

Anthony then continued by stating that he feels that anything that has been said about him since he parted ways with the NBA has kept him out of the league. And that is the reason why he decided to finally speak for himself.

Smith also brought up the fact that Anthony was once presented with the idea to team-up with LeBron James and Dywane Wade in the past. Anthony said that it was just an idea and he chose Denver because he likes being there. He also admitted that “immaturity” and lack of knowledge about how the NBA business works has got him signing 5 more years with the Nuggets instead of joining James and Wade.

“We didn’t know that that was gonna come into fruition. At that point in time when they brought that to me, it was just an idea,” Anthony said.
