NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony has revealed that he and his representatives have been reaching out to NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony has been arguably the biggest name in the current NBA free agent list. And after all the rumors and drama that surrounded his career following his departure from the league, the 10-time All Star has finally opened up about his future.

In an exclusive one-on-one interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Anthony took the opprtunity to finally speak for himself regarding multiple issues about his NBA career. However, NBA Central chose to highlight one of the biggest revelations Anthony has made during the interview and that was the real deal between him and the Los Angeles Lakers.

At some point during the interview, Smith pressed Anthony by directly asking him if his representatives have already reached out to the Lakers and the Clippers. Anthony was quick to answer that the Lakers and the Clippers were included in the teams and people they have been reaching out to.

"Have your representatives reached out to the Los Angeles Lakers?" Smith asked, to which Anthony replied, "We’ve reached out to a lot of people."

"Have the Lakers been one of them?" Smith probed.

"The Lakers have been one of them?" the NBA star confirmed, adding that the Clippers were also included in the list when Smith asked a follow-up question.

The conversation was brief but indeed answered one of the biggest issues in Anthony’s career. In addition, it finally revealed that the possibility of Anthony playing for the Lakers is still there.

Anthony then continued by revealing what really matters for him at this very moment. According to Anthony, he wanted to let people know where he stands at this point and that includes his mental, physical and emotional status. More importantly, Anthony stated that he still “want to play basketball.”

“We’re reaching out, we’re talking, there’s dialogue with certain teams. I don’t want to get into specifics, but there’s conversations. But I think for me now, it’s just a matter of me letting people know where I’m at. Mentally, physically, emotionally, and this is where I’m at: I want to play basketball,” Anthony said.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the teams that are strongly linked to Anthony’s name since he officially became free agent. However, nothing solid has ever come to fruition between both parties. Now that Anthony has confirmed that he is far from being done with basketball, it is safe to say that the future hall of famer’s plead for an NBA contract is still on the table.
