NBA: Why Carmelo Anthony Deserves One Last Run With The Knicks
A former Knick and New York-based pundit shared some reasons why Carmelo Anthony deserves a final shot in the NBA, particularly with the New York Knicks.
Anthony's career instantly diminished after just 10 games with his new team last season. And while the 10-time All Star has not found an NBA team yet, some fans in New York wanted to remind NBA fans about Anthony's contribution to his former team.
Former Knick and NBA sensation Nate Robinson spoke to Ian Begley of SNY about basketball. At some point during the interview, Anthony's name was brought up and Robinson had a lot of good things to say.
According to Robinson, Anthony should be back in the NBA because there are still a lot of fans, including himself, who would be pleased to see Anthony play again.
"He should be. There's no reason why Melo should be at home. I think that it's unfortunate. Because there's so many fans, including myself, of Melo. I love his game, I love what he brings to the game. And I just hope that a team gives him an opportunity to show, really gives him a chance to show that he can still help a team," Robinson said.
Robinson followed up his statement with an opinion about how Anthony was treated during his last days in the league. And as per Robinson, Anthony didn't have a "fair" chance to prove himself once and for all.
"I don't think he had a fair shake toward the end," Robinson pointed.
Just recently, Daily Knicks posted a lengthy article on Anthony as "the player who wanted to play at the Garden." The article aims to describe the significant contributions of Anthony to the Knicks during his stint with the team.
"One day, his No. 7 jersey could be retired at Madison Square Garden. He won the scoring title in 2013; he holds the record for the highest-scoring game in the Garden at 62 points; he led his team to the playoffs in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and he was an All-Star every year he played with the Knicks," Daily Knicks noted.
Earlier this month, ESPN's Jalen Rose also shared his opinion about Anthony, but according to him, the Denver Nuggets is the best landing spot for Anthony, simply because the fans still "adore" him there. However, Rose noted Anthony has to accept that he will be coming off the bench.
